CONTACT: press@epa.gov   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 16, 2014 TODAY: Acting Assistant Administrator for EPA's Office of Air and Radiation to Hold Media Call WASHINGTON – Today at 1:30 p.m. EDT, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Acting Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation, Janet McCabe, will hold a press call to discuss an update to the Clean Power Plan.    At the direction of President Obama and after an unprecedented outreach effort, EPA released the Clean Power Plan in June 2014, which for the first time seeks to cut carbon pollution from existing power plants, the single largest source of carbon pollution in the United States. EPA predicts that when the proposed plan is fully implemented in 2030, carbon emissions from the power sector will be 30 percent below 2005 levels.
